This section provides information regarding expectations related to the role of authors and technical reviewers.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Responsibility of Authors<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each named author must have made a genuine and substantive contribution to the article.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Generally speaking, authorship entails developing the article&#8217;s argument\/explanation, providing examples in the article, composing or significantly editing the written text, and being ultimately responsible for the completed version of the article.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We do not assign a well-known person\u2019s name to material simply to make it appear more authoritative. When several people collaborate, the byline or contributor note should explain their roles accurately.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Author Profiles<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to providing sufficient context for readers to understand the relevant background of the author(s) based on the subject matter at hand; author profiles may include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Programmer-specific experiences<\/li>\n<li>Technical specialties<\/li>\n<li>Contributions to open source software<\/li>\n<li>Published works<\/li>\n<li>Work history\/Professional roles<\/li>\n<li>Projects of relevance<\/li>\n<li>Personal website addresses\/publicly accessible profile sites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All claims included in the biography must be verifiable independently.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Responsibilities of Authors<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As such, authors are expected to:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Produce original work<\/li>\n<li>Verify key factual claims<\/li>\n<li>Wherever possible test code examples<\/li>\n<li>Only cite reliable sources<\/li>\n<li>Provide specific software versions used.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss important limitations<\/li>\n<li>Disclose all potential conflicts of interest<\/li>\n<li>Respond to legitimate errors pointed out to them<\/li>\n<li>Refrain from using undisclosed promotional language or links<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, authors must differentiate between the use of personal experience or opinion and established technical facts.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Responsibilities of Technical Reviewers<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Technical reviewers are tasked with determining if an article&#8217;s explanations, code and conclusions are reasonable and accurate within the specified scope. A technical reviewer may check whether:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Code samples run correctly\/or can be inspected<\/li>\n<li>Software versions identified in the article are compatible<\/li>\n<li>Commands entered by authors produce the expected output<\/li>\n<li>Technical terms used in the article are correct<\/li>\n<li>Claims presented in the article are supported by primary resources<\/li>\n<li>Important limitations\/security concerns were omitted from discussion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While being recognized as a reviewer indicates that the person conducted a valid review, recognition does not imply that the reviewer agrees with all preferences\/options held by the author.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Correction and Continued Responsibility<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both authors\/reviewers must collaborate with reasonable correction requests. In cases where software updates render an article outdated, Ruby-Doc Learn may update the article, post a warning, request additional reviews or discontinue access to the article.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where appropriate, the publication date and date of the most recent substantive update should be displayed.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conflicts of Interest<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authors and reviewers must disclose relationships that could reasonably affect their judgement.
